At a property in Badgers Mount, Kent we were commissioned to rebuild
the chimney as part of a much larger project we are involved in that
included
fitting
a complete
new
roof and total rearrangement of the whole of the internal floor area.
The
new chimney stack is from ground level through the first floor and
through the roof to the exterior, finished with a fancy terracotta
chimney pot.
The bricks we used matched the exterior brickwork and formed
part of the mantel with a large (sleeper) styled timber mantel.
Internally the bricks were pointed to a rubbed finish and remain
as a feature of the lounge.
The interior of the hearth will also
be of the same brick with the front half being made of a natural
grey
slate slab to match
the grey brick arch of the fire opening.
The flue liner conforms
to building regulation so that either a solid fossil fuel or timber
logs can be used within a wrought iron basket.
